Irvin Robert Leimkuehler, of Garden City, Missouri, was born January 15, 1921 in Saline City, Missouri the son of Edward and Emma (Bender) Leimkuehler. He departed this life on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at his home at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 22 days.
On May 2, 1948, Irvin was united in marriage to Ramona Kirkpatrick at Slater, Missouri. Later he was united in marriage to Mildred Maxine Beaver on July 14, 1979 in Kansas City, Kansas.
Irvin was employed as an Assembler for General Motors Fairfax Plant, Kansas City, Kansas until his retirement on February 1, 1980. After his retirement, he helped his brothers paint houses. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Harrisonville, a former member and elder of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Kansas City, Kansas, the UAW Union Local #31, and was an Army veteran of World War II. Irvin enjoyed duck hunting, farming and his greatest love was raising cattle.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ramona on May 8, 1971; five brothers, Clarence, Edward, Eugene, Leroy and Leland; three sisters, Edna, May and Olinda.
Irvin is survived by his wife, Maxine Leimkuehler of the home; two sons, Paul T. Leimkuehler, Tightwad, Missouri, Ray A. Leimkuehler, Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin; a step-son, Daryl Beaver, Walker, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Harrisonville, Missouri under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Our Savior Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
