Jack Edward Bradley, 92, Raymore, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, died Thursday, January 19,2017, at the Foxwood Springs facility in Raymore, MO. He was born on April 4, 1924, in Gunn City, MO, to Charles Henry Bradley, Sr. and Hazel Aleta (Schoenfeld) Bradley. He was one of five children.
Jack grew up in Gunn City, MO. He attended the Gunn City Elementary school and graduated from Harrisonville High School, Harrisonville, MO in May of 1942. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and served as a Medical Lab Technician in Salisbury, England. He served until April 25, 1946, when he received his honorable discharge at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. After military service, he enrolled at Central Methodist College, Fayette, MO and graduated in 1949. His public service career began as the city clerk for Harrisonville. President Dwight D. Eisenhower appointed him Post Master of the Harrisonville Post Office on August 12, 1954. He served as the postmaster until January of 1981.
Jack married Vallie N. (Kneuven) Bradley on November 26, 1948 in Pleasant Hill, MO. Mrs. Bradley passed away on Februay 10 1985. He married Ada Ellen (Moss) on March 9, 1986. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2016.
Mr. Bradley was preceded in death are his parents; his brothers, Charles Henry Bradley, Jr. and James Donald Bradley and his sister, Hazel Louise (Bradley) Johnson.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting and coaching little league baseball. Jack served as president of the sand green golf course association for several years. He was very proud of his military service and was a member of the American Legion Honor Guard. He was a Mason and received his 50 year pin in 1997. He enjoyed Sunday afternoon visits with his family and remained in Harrisonville, Missouri in retirement until taking up resident at Foxwood Springs Assisted Living and Nursing Care facility.
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Bradley) Stevenson, Belleville, IL, and Dr. Lynthia (Bradley) Bowman, Platte City, MO; son-in-law, Robert Stevenson; his beloved sister, Peggy (Bradley) Clum, Harrisonville, MO, Stephanie Joan Manlimos, granddaughter and great-grandchildren, Hailie and Bishop Manlimos from Kansas City. step-sons: Roger Hubble, Wichita, KS, and Scott Hubble, East Lynne, MO; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Emery, Warsaw, MO; and a loving family of nieces and nephews.
A graveside inurnment service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Orient Cemetery, Harrisovnille, Missouri with a military service by the Harrisonville Honor Guard. Cremation.
