James Forrest ""Jim"" Barnard of Archie, Missouri was born in the Austin Community near Archie, Missouri the son of John William and Maude Elizabeth (Switzer) Barnard. He departed this life Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Adrian Manor Nursing Home, Adrian, Missouri at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 23 days. On November 6, 1946, Jim was united in marriage to Carol Natalie (Hayden) Mansfield in Wichita, Kansas.
Jim was a dairy farmer and served six years for the citizens of Cass County as South Administrative Judge. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the First Baptist Church, Archie, Missouri where he taught the Men's Sunday School Class for many years, former Chairman and member of the Cass County Democrat Party for many years, American Legion, Archie, Cass County Council of Aging and other numerous civic organizations. Jim attended Austin Elementary School and was a 1939 graduate of Archie High School. He was a lifelong area resident of the Austin Community. After retirement, Jim took great pleasure in gardening and maintaining the farm. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric; two brothers, Carlyle ""Buddy"" and Ted Barnard; a sister, Avis Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Carol N. Barnard of the home; two sons, Vincent Barnard and wife, Gladys, Harrisonville, Missouri, Dennis Barnard and wife, Patricia, Raymore, Missouri; a daughter, Barbara J. Beeler and husband, Calvin, Warsaw, Missouri; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; a sister, Gayla Cameron, Archie, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1, 2006 at the First Baptist Church, Archie, Missouri with burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery near Adrian, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, Archie, Missouri or to the charity of one's choice.
