Jim McDermott passed away this week at age 78, after a long fight with Alzheimer's. He will be very much missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. And knowing him was definitely a pleasure! He put a smile on everyone's face, whether it was your first time meeting him or if you had known him for a lifetime.
We have already been missing his jokes and stories, the Alzheimer's robbed us if those years ago. Although even near the end he was a treat to be around. The nurses at the Missouri Veteran's loved Jim and never missed an opportunity to tell us how much they enjoyed him. "Sweet, Kind, and Considerate" was his standard reply when asked how he was doing. No truer words were spoken by him. Even when he stopped telling us how sweet he was, the smile remained on Jim's face.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years (his "Joy") Darlene McDermott, son Scott McDermott, daughter Renee Rogers, and three grandchildren, Ashlee Patton, Hanna McDermott, and Nathan Rogers. He also has one great grandchild Conner James Patton.
We will have a private memorial at a later date.
