James Lee Graef of Orrick, Missouri was born November 5, 1918 near Urich, Missouri the son of Albert Lee and Inez Louisa Mabel (Long) Graef. He departed this life on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg, Missouri at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 22 days. On September 23, 1939, James was united in marriage to Lelia Elton Boyles in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. James was employed as a machinist for Western Electric, Lee?s Summit, Missouri until his retirement in February of 1981. He was a member of the Urich, Missouri Presbyterian Church, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Ingham Morgan Post #317 of the American Legion, Urich, Clinton, Missouri Masonic Lodge #548, A.F. & A.M., American Telephone Pioneers and the Communication Worker?s of America Local, Kansas City, Missouri. James had lived in Lee?s Summit, Missouri before moving to Orrick, Missouri. He enjoyed his family, the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William F. Graef. He is survived by his wife, Lelia Boyles Graef of the home; a son, James E. Graef and wife, Perry, Blairstown, Missouri; a daughter, Janice Hutcherson and husband, Ron, Orrick, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tim Graef (Sara) Blairstown, Missouri, Terri Kedigh, Urich, Missouri, Steve Hutcherson (Val) Wall Colt, North Dakota, Don Hutcherson (Jenny) St. Paul, Kansas; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Ervin P. ?Corky? Graef (Irene) Urich, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Bill Boyles (Erna) Nixa, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Ila Calton, Independence, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial at the Mullen Cemetery near Urich, Missouri.
