Janet Ann O?Bannon of Butler, Missouri was born March 27, 1948, in Dallas Center, Iowa, the only daughter out of four children to Lindley and Fannie Marie (Hook) Finch. She departed this life Friday, September 26, 2008 at her home near Butler at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 29 days.
On April 1, 1972, Janet was united in marriage to John Mackey O?Bannon in Naperville, Illinois.
Janet graduated from Naperville High School in Naperville, Illinois, in 1966. She attended Northern Illinois University and received her Bachelor?s degree in education. She received her Master?s degree from Central Missouri State College in 1972. She taught school for thirty years, and retired from Butler Elementary School in 2005.
From the time Janet learned to walk, she loved horses. She rode, trained, and showed champion American Saddlebred Horses throughout her life. She shared her love of horses with her two daughters. Together, they competed in and won many classes, including state fair championships and the UPHA American Royal National Western Pleasure Championship.
Janet was long-time president of the Butler Public Library Board and Heinlein Foundation. She was also a member of the Wednesday Coterie group, an Elder at the Butler Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Butler Education Foundation.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, John M. O?Bannon of the home; two daughters, Julianne O?Bannon Germinder and husband Richard, Kansas City, Missouri, Janelle O?Bannon, Butler, Missouri; three brothers, David Finch and wife Veta, Seneca, South Carolina, Earl Finch and wife Mary, Kidder, Missouri, Jim Finch and wife Mary, Ringwood, Illinois; other relatives and many friends.
Family was very important to Janet, and she will be missed dearly.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the Butler Presbyterian Churh, Butler, Missouri.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Butler Presbyterian Church or to the Butler Public Library.
