Jim O. Shipley

November 17, 1942 — October 30, 2016

James Jim Oren Shipley of Archie, Missouri went home to be with His Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 30, 2016 while surrounded by his bride, sons, daughters, and grandchildren.

Jim was born in his parents home on November 17, 1942 in Everett Township, Archie, Missouri to Oren Homer Jr. and Zona Lee Shipley. Jim was a child of God, a son, brother, nephew, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, great grandfather, co-worker, neighbor and friend.

On June 10, 1962, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Mildred Cook in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a master craftsman for 30 years. If he saw it, he could build it. He loved to race cars, fly planes, drive tractors, chase wild horses, play music with his friends, travel the country, and pull a few pranks from time to time. Jim loved a great adventure and was truly intoxicated on life. The only requirement for a good time was good friends and good food. Jim knew what it meant to love thy neighbor as thyself. If anybody needed anything, he was always there. He knew that he had been blessed to be a blessing. If he had the resource it was meant to be given and he didnt have to think twice about it. Having a heart the size of Texas his generosity and love were simply without measure.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Oren Homer Jr. and Zona Lee Shipley.

Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Shipley; three sons, David Oren Shipley of Archie, Missouri, Dale Allen Shipley and his wife Dee Ann of Archie, Missouri and Dallas Lee Shipley and his wife Lori of Smithville, Missouri; a brother, David L. Shipley and wife Dottie of Archie, Missouri; grandchildren, Preston, Allanna, Paige, Alisha, Abigail, Austin, Leeah, Laney, and Leevi; great grandchildren Brian, Brenton , Zander, Halle, Trey , Reid, and Norah, these grandchildren were a precious joy in his life; his other relatives and a host of friends.

If time and space permitted, there are numerous stories this large family and friends could entertain you with for hours, with guaranteed laughter and tears. Jims ability to grab on to life with both hands and take you with him on his adventure will never be forgotten. The word strong applies to Jim in many ways. He was strong physically, strong morals, strong in his faith, strong as a husband, father and grandfather and had a strong belief in friendship. With love and gratitude we celebrate the life of this special man. Our loss is Heavens gain.
