John Doubledee

February 7, 1943 — August 11, 2013

John Harrell Doubledee of Harrisonville, Missouri was born February 7, 1943 the son of George Melvin Doubledee and Juanda (Harrell)Doubledee in Phoenix, Arizona. He departed this life to join his Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 11, 2013 in Kansas City, Missouri.
John was united in marriage to Janet Strange at Butler, Missouri on July 24, 1993. Though he had other marriages, this one was the truest and longest-lasting, and Janet ultimately proved to be the love of his life.
John worked at many occupations in his life, but a common thread throughout was a pride in the task at hand and a devotion to customer service. His working life began helping work the family dairy farm in Oronogo, and ended in “retirement”, working the hobby farm with wife Janet and his youngest children. In between, he built truck beds, managed chicken houses, a hardware store and a bowling alley, delivered propane, fixed cars, janitored in a small school, and built jigs in a factory. At the end, he mastered Janet’s award-winning angel food cake recipe, and his family became well-known figures at local farmers’ markets. John also was a devoted lifelong member of the RLDS Community of Christ Church, serving as Deacon and Elder.
John was preceded in death by his father, George, in May 1993. He is survived by his wife Janet of Harrisonville, mother, Juanda of Oronogo, son Tim and wife Sandi of Shawneetown, Missouri, daughter Lisa Zentner of Joplin, daughter Tara Wegner of Adrian, daughter Holly and husband Andrew Chism of Webb City, daughter Willa Jo of Iantha, daughter Sarah and son J.W. Hoss, both of the home in Harrisonville, and six grandchildren.
