John E. Hopkins, of Garden City, Missouri was born February 4, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Elmer Roy and Margaret Irene (Duke) Hopkins. He departed this life on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City at the age of 69 years and 14 days.
John was a truck driver for many years and then was a rancher from 1994 until his retirement in 2004. John and Suzann enjoyed going to the boats.
He was preceded in death by his father.
John is survived by his life partner, Suzann Hudson of the home; two sons, Rusty Hopkins and wife Kathy, Garden City, Missouri, Chad Hopkins and wife Stacie, Archie, Missouri; two step-daughters, Trish Plunkett and husband Joey, Butler, Missouri, Veronica Denton, Warrenton, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Devan, Samantha, Bayley, Faith, Emily, Grace, J.D., Joe, Matt and Paige; a great-granddaughter, Millie; his mother, Margaret Cook, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Visitation was held Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
