John Robert Taylor, of Kansas City, Missouri, was born October 3, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Harold Nelson Sr. and Oma Francis (Clark) Taylor. He departed this life on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Truman Medical Center Hospital Hill, Kansas City at the age of 57 years and 14 days.
On December 23, 1978, John was united in marriage to Kathy Marie Hensley in Kansas City, Missouri.
John was employed as a machine operator for Universal Manufacturing in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of the Cass County Elk's Lodge #2791 B.P.O.E., Harrisonville, Missouri. John enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards, hunting mushrooms, singing and whistling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and his dog, Hannibal. John was known for two things; he was a jokester and was always making funny faces in most of his pictures and a workaholic and went all out whether it was work or play.
John was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Taylor of the home; a son, Robert Lee Taylor and a daughter, Sarah Lynn Shope and husband Danny all of Independence, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Bryan Stuart Kyle Jr., Robert Lee Taylor II, Elorah Joy Taylor, Emily Jean Marie Kyle and Gabriel Edward Joseph Taylor; his mother, Oma Francis Miller, Lincoln, Missouri; two brothers, Harold Nelson Taylor Jr. and wife Deanna, Harrisonville, Missouri, Steven Dale Taylor, Kansas City, Kansas; three sisters, Jackie Hensley and husband Jackey, Kansas City, Missouri, Debbie Attebury and husband Chuck, Edwards, Missouri, Becky Blick and husband Oliver, State of Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Truman Medical Center West Cancer Foundation.
