John Howerton, 84, of Harrisonville, MO, died Jan. 12, 2012. John was born July 22, 1927 in Searcy, Arkansas the son of Leo J. and Inez Marie (Dull) Howerton.
On November 26, 1954, John was united in marriage to Julia Ann Zebert in Kansas City, Kansas.
John was employed as a plumber for Midwest Mechanical Contractors in Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Plumbers Local Union #8, Kansas City, Missouri. John enjoyed farming as his second career and lived on his farm in Harrisonville for 52 years. He was a casual musician and played guitar and sang country music. John was a successful entrepreneur who built and sold houses, and farmed for over 40 years. He enjoyed sporting activities and especially liked following the Royals and Chiefs. John loved spending time with his family and for the past 20 years, looked forward going to Arizona during the winter.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Clayton, David and Tommy Howerton and a sister, Patty Watson.
John is survived by his wife, Julia Howerton of the home; two sons, Allen Howerton, Tucson, Arizona, Mark Howerton and wife Susan, Weatherby Lake, Missouri; three daughters, Connie Clark and husband David, Raymore, Missouri, Cheryl Petersen and husband Frank, Canton, Georgia; Deborah Howerton, St. Charles, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Dutton, Tucson, Arizona; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with interment in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
