Junior Dick Huiatt of Harrisonville, Missouri was born June 28, 1920 in Harrisonville the son of Elmer Emerson and Grace (Knowles) Huiatt. He departed this life on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 24 days.
On December 1, 1950, J.D. was united in marriage to Viola Marie Maloney in Kansas City, Missouri.
J.D. was employed as a truck driver for Columbia Steel Tank Company in Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1984. He was earlier employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, working in the States of Minnesota and Idaho. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Harrisonville and was an Army veteran of World War II. J.D. enjoyed working on his car and lawn mowers, doing yard work, cutting wood and the outdoors. He had lived in Versailles, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville in 2000.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Huiatt of the home; two sisters, Wanda Nikitouplos and Arlene Kelley both of Lakeland, Florida; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Baptist Church, Harrisonville, Missouri.
