Mrs. Katherine Marie Sweeney of Lees Summit, Missouri was born June 25, 1922 in Sweet Springs, Missouri the daughter of Val and Ella (Stolberg) Weisenburger. She departed this life Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 83 years and 8 months.
On June 21, 1959, Katherine was united in marriage to Morris Mott Sweeney in Marshall, Missouri.
Katherine was a school teacher for Tucson High School, Tucson, Arizona until her retirement in the 1970s. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Marshall, Missouri. Katherine had attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri and Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Missouri. She had lived in Tucson and Lees Summit before moving to Harrisonville in 2004.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris and two sisters, Elsa Harlow and Helen Chamberlin.
She is survived by a sister, Louella Sims Hemme, Sweet Springs, Missouri; two nephews, Gene Sims, Oak Grove, Missouri, Howard Chamberlin, Lake Lotawana, Missouri; three nieces, Marty Heermann, Blue Springs, Missouri, Nina Pointer, Lee Summit, Missouri, Donna Alexander, Marshall, Missouri; several great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 27, 2006 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Graveside service and interment were at The Lady of the Desert Cemetery, Tucson, Arizona.
