Kenneth Wayne Helms, of Creighton, Missouri was born January 10, 1936 in Lamar, Missouri the son of John Matthew and Alta Juanita (Thornburg) Helms. He departed this life on Friday, June 27, 2014 at his home surrounded by love and family at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 17 days.
On September 11, 1977, Kenneth was united in marriage to Emma Jo (Clarkson) Field in Butler, Missouri.
Kenneth was employed as a truck driver for Whistle Ready Mix in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Earlier he was employed by JE Dunn, Kansas City, Missouri and Marley Cooling Towers, Olathe, Kansas. Kenneth liked to fish but his greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy M. Helms and his step-father, Mearle Randolf.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Emma Helms of the home; five daughters, Juanita Helms, Garden City, Missouri, Susan Saubers and husband Nick, Dorothy Hankins all of Adrian, Missouri, Sandy Thompson and husband Bruce, Creighton, Missouri, Sherry Green and husband LaMont, Belton, Missouri; two sons, Anthony Field and wife Darlene, Springfield, Missouri, Mark Field and wife Glenda, Adrian, Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three brothers, George Helms and Loren Helms both of Yuba City, California, Archie Helms, Urich, Missouri; step-mother, Lottie Helms, Yuba City, California; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Byler Cemetery near Creighton, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Care Hospice.
