Lacey Herrell Thomas of Harrisonville, Missouri was born August 17, 1955 in Harrisonville, Missouri the son of Gerald Elton and Opal Aliene (Herrell) Thomas Wiskur. He departed this life on Friday, February 28, 2014 at his home near Harrisonville surrounded by love and family at the age of 58 years, 6 months and 11 days.
On January 7, 1976 Lacey was united in marriage to Bonnie Ruth Stephens in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Lacey was employed as a diesel mechanic for Harmon Bus Company and later Crabtree Harmon Bus Company, Belton, Missouri until his retirement in 1998. He was baptized at an early age at the Creighton Christian Church and renewed his faith at New Covenant Fellowship, Garden City, Missouri. Lacey enjoyed anything to do with cars, from restoring, drag racing and watching NASCAR. His favorite was always, Chevrolet. He was a 1973 graduate of Sherwood High School, Creighton, Missouri. Lacey will be remembered by his family for being an animal lover, witty, humorous and compassionate. Lacey had lived in Creighton and Garden City, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville.
Besides his father; Lacey was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie on February 16, 2012; his step-father, Clinton Wiskur.
Lacey is survived by his son, Chris Thomas and wife, Crystal, Archie, Missouri; his two grandsons, Chase and Corban; his mother, Opal A. Wiskur, Archie, Missouri; a brother, G.E. Thomas, Creighton, Missouri; two sisters, Charlene Fidler, Creighton, Missouri, Carolyn McBeath and husband, Mark, Raymore, Missouri; two step-brothers; two step-sisters; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Burial is in the Garden City Missouri Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Lacey Thomas Memorial Fund or to his grandsons and it may be left at the funeral home.
