Larry Wayne Curtis, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born January 17, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Frank W. and Hester Lucille (Brimm) Curtis. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City surrounded by love and family at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 27 days.
On August 28, 1982, Larry was united in marriage to Joann Marie Rogers in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Larry was a carpenter for 30 years for different companies in the area and later was employed in the Custodian and Maintenance Department for the Harrisonville School District. Earlier he had worked for Armco Steel for 10 years. Larry loved working with his hands and could make anything. He was a 10 year Air Force veteran and served in the Vietnam War. Larry enjoyed golfing, camping and was an avid bowler and had 4, 300 game rings and 1, 299 game ring.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Michael and a brother, James Curtis.
Larry is survived by his wife, Joann Curtis of the home; three sons, Kevin Curtis and wife Vickie, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Chris Curtis and wife Carla, Kansas City, Missouri and Greg Curtis and family, Harrisonville, Missouri; two daughters, Angela Meachum and husband James, Wood Heights, Missouri and Kathryn Hoskins and husband David, Lebanon, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Patsy Curtis, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Military Honors were provided by the Harrisonville Honor Guard and the Whitman Air Force Honor Guard.
