Madeline Davis

Madeline (Green) Davis of Garden City, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 07, 2015 at the age of 82. She was born on October 18, 1932 to Aubrey and Ela (Wilmuth) Green in Evening Shade, Arkansas. She had a step-mother Lorene Green, a brother Bob Green, two sisters Carolyn Alm and Kay Jenkins.
On October 26th, 1949 she married Ralph “Gene” Davis of Garden City, Missouri. To this union a son, Larry Eugene, was born.
Madeline loved taking care of growing things—she ran a daycare business out of her home for many years and was an avid gardener. She also loved cooking and baking. She was a cook at Sherwood School for several years, and her homemade noodles, pies, cookies, and cinnamon rolls were favorites of many family and friends. She worked for Jerry and Toni Simmons at their ranch with her husband Gene and they developed a long friendship with the Simmons family. Madeline had a strong and kind spirit, and was beloved by her family and friends. She attended the First Baptist Church and Christian Church in Garden City. Madeline had a love for animals, and could frequently be found taking care of her many cats and dogs. She had a limitless capacity to nurture.
Madeline is preceded in death by her husband, Gene, her brother Bob, and her parents.
She is survived by her son Larry, and daughter-in-law Marilyn of Garden City, Missouri; granddaughter Amanda Davis, her husband Matt Guillory, and great-granddaughter Iva Hoskins of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; granddaughter Stacy Orf, her husband Tim, and great-granddaughter Madeline of Greenwood, Missouri; sister Carolyn Alm of Lake Winnebago, Missouri; sister Kay Jenkins and her husband Nick of Archie, Missouri; and many generations of loving family.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Garden City Meals on Wheels.
