Margaret Gillespie

Mrs. Margaret Louise Gillespie of Harrisonville, Missouri was born June 1, 1928 in Osceola, Iowa the daughter of Robert Leo and Esther Catharine (Brown) Patterson. She departed this life on Friday, June 13, 2008 at her home in Harrisonville at the age of 80 years and 12 days.
On February 28, 1949, Margaret was united in marriage to Fredrick Thomas Gillespie in Austin, Minnesota.
Margaret was a homemaker and earlier was employed from 1969 to 1974 at Western Electric in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She was a member of the VFW Post 4409 Ladies Auxiliary and the Hurley Lee Spicer Post #42 of the American Legion Auxiliary. Margaret enjoyed her family and grandchildren, sewing and crocheting. She had lived in Belton, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville in 1982.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred on September 14, 1999; a grandson, Kevin Robert Gillespie on November 10, 2006; a great-granddaughter, Mikayla Gillespie; a sister, Helen Segerstrom.
She is survived by a son, Robert Gillespie and wife, Anne, Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Catharine Gillespie, State of Iowa, Donita Gillespie, Harrisonville, Missouri; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Hoover, Truro, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial at the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
