Margery "Marge" Belle Brown

On December 24, 2024, Margery Belle Brown completed her journey from her home at Benton House of Raymore to her heavenly Father, surrounded by her loving family. She was 95 years old. 

Marge was born in Kansas City, KS on August 23, 1929, to Ruby and Harold Reynolds. Marge was a talented, strong woman of faith. She co-owned and operated an engraving business with her first husband Ollie Scrivener, with whom she had three children. She was also a skillful seamstress, making most of her own and her husband’s clothes and beautiful quilts for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and any new additions to her church family. Marge loved to dance. She was a dance instructor with Al Brown, her husband of 33 years, and they performed together with the Millstone Wheelers. She also made costumes and engraved plaques and trophies for her square and round dancing communities. Marge loved her church as a longtime member of the Worship Center, with her late husband Al. After a long absence due to declining health, Marge’s church community lifted her up with a standing ovation as entered the church once again. 

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband Al, daughter Tamra Overturf, son Tim Scrivener, and grandson Michael Strup. She is survived by her siblings Ed Reynolds and Lora Scrivener, daughter Terri McMurray, and step-son Rodney Brown. Marge leaves behind a great family legacy as the beloved matriarch of four children, 12 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. 

Please help us celebrate a life faithfully lived on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Dickey Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Visitation is from 9:30-10:30 a.m., and the funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville.
