Marie Frances Whitaker of Peculiar, Missouri was born October 24, 1942 in Cynthiana, Kentucky the daughter of James William “Willie” and Lucille (Fryman) Feix. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the Kansas City Hospice House at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 11 days.
Marie was united in marriage to James “Jim” Philip Whitaker Jr. in Jamestown, Tennessee.
Marie was employed as an assistant manager for CVS in Belton, Missouri until her retirement in 2009. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville. Marie was the epitome of a “cat lady”. She never turned down a kitten in need of a home.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Whitaker Jr. on January 3, 2015 and a sister, Mabel “Feix” Schreiber.
Marie is survived by four children, Veronika Ray, Peculiar, Missouri, Amy Hammack, Raymore, Missouri, James “Doug” (Jenni) Whitaker, Papillion, Nebraska, Philip Andrew (Gypse) Whitaker, Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hammack, Travis (Kaylin) Ray, Jimmy and Jack Whitaker; brother-in-law, John Schreiber, Cynthiana, Kentucky; sister-in-laws, Kathy Whitaker, Waterford, Conneticut, Jan (Neal) Scott, Paducah, Kentucky; nieces and nephews; her cats, Booger and Bullwinkle; other relatives and friends.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Missouri with a private family inurnment in the Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri.
