Marjorie Marie Welsh

Marjorie Marie Welsh, daughter of Willie and Opal Ellen Jump Ginnings, was born, July 13, 1944 in Bolivar, Missouri. She departed this life, Sunday, March 15, 2015, in her home, Garden City, Missouri at the age of seventy years, eight months and two days.
On August 21, 1959 in Decaturville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Jerry Wallander and to this union three children were born. She later married Larry Eugene Welsh on October 13, 1979 in Independence, Missouri and together they shared thirty-four years of marriage before his passing on January 6, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister; Mary McCoy; an infant sister and a step-son, Terry Welsh.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Wallander and wife Tarra of Garden City, Missouri, Glenda Cobb of Garden City, Missouri and Stacy Miles and husband Rodney of Paola, Kansas; step-children, Debra Wright of Camdenton, Missouri and Randy Welsh and wife Alie of Eldridge, Missouri; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous step-grand and great-grandchildren; a brother, Willie Ginnings and wife Sandra of Eldridge, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Marjorie was raised in the Decaturville area. She attended Missy Lee’s and Jim Gardner Beauty Colleges. She owned and operated Margie’s Klip and Kurl in Garden City for many years. She served as the Secretary and Treasurer for the United Methodist Church in Garden City.
Marjorie was a member of “the little church in the woods”, Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Wheatland. In her spare time, she loved to do crafts and work with flowers. She was an excellent cook and baker. Fishing was always a good time for her. Most of all, time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren brought her joy.
She touched many lives during her time on earth and we take comfort in knowing her memory will linger on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Larry Eugene Welsh, son of Harley O. and Beatrice Council Welsh, was born, May 2, 1940 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He departed this life, Monday, January 6, 2014, in Golden Years, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of seventy-three years, eight months and four days.
On October 13, 1979 in Independence, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Marie Ginnings. Together they shared thirty-four years of marriage
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry Welsh and a brother, Frank Welsh.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Welsh of Garden City, Missouri; five children, Jerry Wallander and wife Tarra of Garden City, Missouri, Glenda Cobb of Garden City, Missouri, Stacy Miles and husband Rodney of Paola, Kansas, Debra Wright of Camdenton, Missouri and Randy Welsh and wife Alie of Eldridge, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Larry was raised in Michigan and was a graduate of Portage High School in Portage, Michigan. He moved to Missouri in 1963 and settled in Garden City, Missouri in 1979 after his marriage to Marjorie. He worked as a truck Driver for Suburban Propane.
Larry made a profession of faith and was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Wheatland.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and doing yard work. Time spent with family and friends was important to him.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.
Memorial Visitation for both Larry and Marjorie will be 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
Memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and left at the funeral home.
