Mark Shawn Atkinson of Blairstown, Missouri was born November 5, 1954 in Clinton, Missouri the son of Samuel Dean and Erma Jean (Stark) Atkinson. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at his home at the age of 65 years and 9 months.
Mark was a farmer and stockman. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mark was a lifelong area resident of Blairstown and a 1972 graduate of Sherwood High School, Creighton, Missouri. He enjoyed the outdoors, an avid hunter and was a talented musician having played the guitar, banjo and keyboard.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mark is survived by his brother, James D. Atkinson and wife, Carol, Dogue, Virginia; two nephews, Jacob and Eric Atkinson; a great-nephew, Brandon; other relatives and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Carpenter Cemetery, Chilhowee, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Carpenter Cemetery and may be sent in care of the Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.
