Marsha Mildred Petersen, of Harrisonville, Missouri was born March 15, 1950 in Independence, Missouri the third of four children to Vernon Eugene and Ida Lee (Kiger) McGrath. She departed this life on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at her home at the age of 72 years and 9 days.
On June 1, 1968, Marsha was united in marriage to Larry Dean Petersen. To this union they had two children. They made their home around the Lee’s Summit area. They later divorced in 2003.
Marsha was employed with Saint Gobain CalMar, Grandview, Missouri for over 40 years until her retirement in 2012. She was a 1968 graduate of Lee’s Summit High School. Marsha was a Jehovah’s Witness and was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Columbus, Kansas. She loved traveling, cooking, sharing recipes, doing word searches, reading and her dog Summer.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Erven McGrath.
Marsha is survived by her son, Paul Petersen, Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Cyndi Fossum and husband Garrett, Harrisonville, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Gavin Lutman (Sarah), Kyle Lutman (Leah), Gabrielle Petersen and Anthony Petersen; 3 great-grandchildren, Mateo Thrasher-Sigala, Madelynn Lutman and Titus Lutman; two sisters, Donna Crisman and husband Rodney, Farmersville, Texas, Deitre Kraft and husband Richard, Granby, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
