Mrs. Martha Klapmeyer Bacon of Harrisonville, Missouri was born February 7, 1913 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Benjamin and Margaret Isabelle (Bissell) Stevenson. She departed this life on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville, Missouri at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 11 days. On, October 2, 1937 Martha was united in marriage to C. Keith Klapmeyer in Kansas City, Missouri. Later, she married J.Clark Bacon on March 2, 1993 in Harrisonville, Missouri. Martha was employed as a clerical bookkeeper for St. Luke?s Hospital, Kansas City until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Harrisonville; a 50 year member of the Belton, Missouri OES; the Belton Historical Society; a former member of the Cass County Council of Aging. She enjoyed her family, reading and doing volunteer work at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City and at Research Belton Hospital. Martha had attended Huff Business School for 4 years in Kansas City. She had lived in Belton before moving to Harrisonville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, C. Keith Klapmeyer on October 26, 1986. She is survived by her husband, J. Clark Bacon of the home; her two daughters, Nancy Klapmeyer Willis, Belton, Missouri, Julie Coleman and husband, Larry, Peculiar, Missouri; two step-sons, C.L. Bacon and wife, Cathy, Canyon Lake, California, C.R. Bacon and wife, Linda, Lone Tree, Colorado; a step-daughter, Sally E. Wada, Lawrence, Kansas; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation. A memorial visitation was held Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
