Marty Harris

Marguerite ""Marty"" Harris, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born May 11, 1920 near Peculiar, Missouri, the daughter of Francis Arthur and Elnora (Tribby) Johnson. She departed this life Sunday, June 24, 2007, at her home near Harrisonville at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 13 days.
On June 29, 1946, Marty was united in marriage to Wayne Afton Harris in Lawrence, Kansas.
Marty was a homemaker. Earlier, she was employed by the Belton Phone Company, the Grace Company and as a clerk and bookkeeper for the Fay Hardware Store, Belton, Missouri from 1955-1976. She was a member of the Belton Historical Society and a charter member of Belton United Methodist Church since 1941and then later transferred to the Harrisonville Mennonite Church. Marty was a 1938 graduate of the Belton High School. She was an avid crafter and woodcarver and was a member of the K.C. Chippers Wood Carving Association.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne A. Harris on January 12, 1982 and a brother, Leonard Johnson.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Gilkeson and husband Jerald, Harrisonville, Missouri; a son, Ron Harris and wife Geneva, Roach, Missouri; four grandchildren, Seth Gilkeson and wife Andrea, Laith Gilkeson and wife Bethany all of Harrisonville, Missouri, Kari Harris Goetz and husband Gary, Higginsville, Missouri, Brandy Harris Schulte and husband Tim, Perryton, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren, Johanna and David Gilkeson; Riley, Grant, Adler and Hope Gilkeson; Jessica and Joseph Goetz; Connor, Emma and Allie Schulte; a sister, Dorothy Jeter, Nashville, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Maxine Johnson, Peculiar, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville with burial in the Belton, Cemetery, Belton, Missouri.
