Mary Belle Moffett

Mary Belle Moffett of Harrisonville, Missouri was born April 21, 1926 near Peculiar, Missouri the daughter of Clarence and Eva Belle (Whipple) Moffett. She departed this life Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 5 days.
Mary Belle was employed as a librarian for the Cass County Public Library for over 37 years until her retirement. She started her employment as a bookmobile librarian, making over 50 country school visits each month. On, Easter Sunday in 1942 she joined the United Methodist Church, Archie, Missouri later transferring her membership to the United Methodist Church, Harrisonville. Mary Belle was a lifelong church goer, she served as Sunday School secretary for over 35 years, a charter member of the Wesleyan Service Guild, (later Twilighters) where she served faithfully as president, treasurer and spiritual life chairman for many years. She enjoyed attending any church activity whether in Harrisonville or anywhere throughout the district. Mary Belle was a 50 year member of the Royal Neighbors.
Mary Belle started her schooling at High Hill Country School, Southeast of Peculiar. She entered the Archie School District when she was in the 2nd grade and was a 1944 graduate of Archie High School. Mary Belle had lived in the Mound Valley Community, North of Archie. She had resided in Archie before moving to Harrisonville in 1977.
Mary Belle at a young age always enjoyed being outdoors, working in the yard and digging in the dirt. She and her mother enjoyed traveling across the United States and Canada seeing historical places and scenery. She enjoyed visiting and was always concerned about the welfare of others. She was kind and gentle and has lived her life with dignity and pride.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is a survived by distant relatives and good friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 30, 2006 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with interment in the Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri.
