Mrs. Mary Rachel Yoder of Garden City, Missouri was born December 11, 1947 in Ashland, Kansas the daughter of Paul Eber and Charlotte Sophrona (Miller) Kuhns. She departed this life on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 62 years, 8 months and 8 days.
On September 10, 1966, Mary was united in marriage to Calvin Morris Yoder at Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church.
Mary was a homemaker and a faithful member of Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church. She enjoyed drawing house plans for neighbors and friends and sewing. She will be remembered as kind, loving and was passionate about helping other people in need. Mary was a graduate of Meade Bible Academy, Meade, Kansas and had lived in Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Garden City in 1966.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Buschert.
Mary is survived by her husband, Calvin Yoder of the home; a son, Wesley N. Yoder and wife, Kate, Seattle, Washington; three daughters, Gwendolyn M. Meeks and husband, Chris, Garden City, Missouri; Cynthia M. Yoder and Melinda R. Yoder both of the home; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew, Jacquelyn, Cameron and Jillian; three brothers, Don Kuhns, Joplin, Missouri, Ken Kuhns, Little Sioux, Iowa, Carl Kuhns, Omaha, Nebraska; three sisters, Alice Bishop, Lynch, Nebraska, Grace Helmuth, Pryor, Oklahoma, Sharon King, Omaha, Nebraska; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Clearfork Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.
