Melvin Eugene Tabor of Drexel, MO was born May 21, 1953, in Harrisonville, MO. The son of Marvin E. Tabor and Thelma Faye (Calvert) Tabor. He departed this life Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO at the age of 70.
on April 17, 1981, Melvin was united in marriage to Linda Elaine Spillars in Garden City, MO.
Melvin was employed as truck driver for Alton Box Company in Blue Springs until 1974. He then started with Shock Transfer in Kansas City, KS as a truck Driver until retirement in 2004. Next, he gained employment with Cass County as a general maintenance worker until 2015. Throughout the years he had side jobs such as hay hauling and water hauling. He and Linda owned a 10-acre farm outside Harrisonville, for 9 years, where they raised cattle, pigs, and chickens and grew a large garden. Time Spent with people in the community was an enjoyment for Melvin, who never knew a stranger. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest joy.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Steven Quick.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; one son, Ronald Tabor and Wife Rhonda, Freeman, MO; two daughters Shellie Wood and husband Patrick of Warsaw, MO., Melanie Tabor of Harrisonville.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darrell Tabor and wife Judy of Texas and Bill Tabor of Windsor; three sisters, Pam Burton, Clinton, MO., Sandy Ayler and husband Dennis of Urich, MO and Vicki Tripod and husband Chuck of Harrisonville, MO.; other relatives and many friends
We will always remember Melvin for his strong work ethics, availability to lend a helping hand, his infectious smile, and great sense of humor.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. With Internment at Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
