Mrs. Nancy Lou Akins, of East Lynne, Missouri, was born May 9, 1933 near Dayton, Missouri, the daughter of Charles ""Charlie"" and Maudie Beatrice (Briviande) Smith. She departed this life Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at her home at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 5 days.
Nancy was employed as a machine operator for Peterson Manufacturing, Company, Grandview, Missouri until her retirement. Later, she was employed by Public Water Supply District #11, Garden City, Missouri, Sherwood Cass R-8 School District, Creighton, Missouri as a bus driver and Wal-Mart Super Center, Harrisonville, Missouri as a greeter. Nancy was a 1951 graduate of Archie, Missouri High School. She was a member of the Creighton Christian Church since 1968 and had attended East Lynne Assembly of God Church. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved music and dancing. She had lived at Creighton before moving to East Lynne.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Tabor.
She is survived by one son, Mike Akins and wife Lisa, East Lynne, Missouri; one daughter, Patty Stephens and husband Billy, Garden City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Rachel Ponder, Christopher Akins and Jacqueline Akins; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Ponder; one brother, Donald Smith and wife Betty, Ballard, Missouri; a special friend, Meryle Wooden, East Lynne, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation with a private family memorial service.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the East Lynne Assembly of God Memorial Fund.
