Mrs. Nina Bernice Hontz, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born September 8, 1917 in Houstonia, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Walter and Sarah Jane (McGatha) Pummill. She departed this life Wednesday, May 3, 2006, Saint Joseph Health Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 25 days.
On November 9, 1935, Nina was united in marriage to Eugene Hontz in Arkansas.
Nina was employed as an inspector for Western Electric, Lee's Summit, Missouri for 20 years until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the Pioneer Union, Kansas City and had attended the Methodist Church in Houstonia. Nina lived in LaMonte and Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville in 2002. She took pride in her home and family. Nina enjoyed family get togethers and loved to fish.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hontz; four brothers, Charles, Cotton, Lee and Perry and a sister, Lila.
She is survived by four daughters, Donna Coplin and husband Harry, Edgar Springs, Missouri, Barbara Douglas, Harrisonville, Missouri, Peggy Shanahan and husband Kenny, Rogersville, Missouri, Nila Ramsey and husband Eric, Ozark, Missouri; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Cremation with inurnment in the Payne Cemetery, Knob Noster, Missouri.
