Norma Kirk Brown England

July 9, 1935 — October 13, 2013

Norma Kathleen Kirk Brown England passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, October 13, 2013, at Golden Years Nursing Home in Harrisonville, MO.
She was born on July 9, 1935, in Lee’s Summit, Mo, the daughter of Roy C. and Edith E. (Hopper) Kirk. Norma was the fourth child in her family of ten children, (the third of six daughters).
Her family traveled to the West to find work in the late 30’s settleing in Ukiah, California, and lived there until they returned to Missouri where she graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1953. She attended Business School in Kansas City, Missouri, met and married Thomas Alonzo Brown on November 30, 1956, in Harrisonville, MO. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS Salt Lake City, UT, Temple on June 10, 1957. Tom and Norma were blessed with three children: Tanis Arlene, Dana Lynette, and Thomas Alonzo II. Tom tragically passed away in a tractor accident in June of 1991, Norma then married Gilbert F. England of Doniphan, NE, on February 13, 1999, and moved to Nebraska. Gilbert’s health failed and she brought him to Cass County for the final years of his life, where he died in March of 2007. Norma set up residence in Belton until she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and then moved to Carnegie Village Assisted Living for a few years. As her health failed, she needed more care, finally residing at Golden Years Nursing Home where she died.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Edith Kirk, two brothers Glen and Warren Kirk, two sisters Lorna Viles and Imogene Vancil. Husbands, Thomas A. Brown and Gilbert F. England.
She is survived by her three children, Tanis Clayton, Raymore, MO; Dana (Lon) Tracy, Harrisonville, MO; Thomas A. (Rhonda) Brown II, Kansas City, MO; fourteen grandchildren, Angela Martin, Christopher (Andrea) Green, Brandon Green, Jennifer McIlvaine, Lonnie Tracy, Betsy Tracy, Katie Tracy, Emily Tracy, Jonathan Tracy, Connor Tracy, Susanna Tracy, Amy Tracy, Isabella Tracy, Scarlett Tracy, and Shelten Brown. Four great grandchildren, Alexander Green, Andrew Green, Shauna Green, and Brayden Green. Two brothers, Gene Kirk, Vernal, UT and Kevin Kirk, Raymore, MO. Three sisters, Joanna Lukas, Redwood Valley, CA, Barbara Simpson, Utah, and Edith Carpenter, Navarre, FL.
Norma was a very loving woman, talented musically, a great cook and an extremely generous person. She was a collector of vintage linens, dishes, and anything else she thought was beautiful. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She faithfully served in many capacities in the church and blessed the lives of those who knew her. We are grateful for our knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and know that she has been taken home to a loving Heavenly Father and is now with her sweet husband, parents and other relatives and friends. We will sorely miss our “Grandma Brown” and long for the day we will be reunited again.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri.
