Otto Smith Jr., of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born August 11, 1923 in Atherton, Missouri, the son of Otto and Florence Emma (Jacks) Smith. He departed this life Thursday, August 3, 2006 at the Camden Health Center, Harrisonville at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 22 days.
On March 21, 1948, Otto was united in marriage to Catherine Frances Zager in Olathe, Kansas.
Otto was a loving father, devoted husband and dedicated employee as a maintenance repairman and troubleshooter for Phillips Petroleum Company, Kansas City, Kansas for 25 years and later for Avon Products, Inc., Kansas City, Missouri for 10 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville. Otto had lived in Kansas City and Sunrise Beach, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville in 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Catherine F. Smith of the home; a son, George A. Smith and wife Marcy, Garden City, Missouri; a daughter Linda Smith Imler and husband Dan, Olathe, Kansas; three grandchildren, Laura Catherine Smith, Garden City, Missouri, Thomas Daniel Imler and Julianna Grace Imler both of Olathe, Kansas; two brothers, Melvin Smith, Gladstone, Missouri, Jack Smith, Independence, Missouri; a sister, Betty Lou Smith, Platte City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 7, 2006 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville with entombment in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri.
