Peter Garrity Fobes of Peculiar, Missouri was born in Kansas City, Kansas the son of David Camp and Helen (Garrity) Fobes-Kepley. He departed this life on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Meadowview of Harrisonville Heath and Rehabilitation surrounded by love and family at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 19 days.
On September 16, 1967, Peter was united in marriage to Mary Helen Bittner in Kansas City, Missouri.
Peter was employed as a pipefitter for Foley Construction Company, Kansas City, Missouri and later retired from KCKBOE. Peter was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, a 50 year member of Pipefitters Local Union #533, Kansas City, Missouri and was active in the Boy Scouts in his earlier years. Peter was gifted at making or fixing anything. His basement was his haven where he would create his latest contraption. His greatest treasure was his family. He was a friendly soul who never met a stranger. Peter loved the outdoors, teasing his grandkids and helping out a neighbor or friend in need. The twinkle in his eye and his "Pete-ism's" will not be forgotten.
Besides his parents, Peter was preceded in death by an infant son, David Peter Fobes; a brother, Michael Fobes; a sister, Mary Frances Fobes.
Peter is survived by his wife, Mary H. Fobes of the home; two sons, Tim Fobes (Tracie) Raymore, Missouri, Matthew Fobes, Archie, Missouri; a daughter, Carolyn McKean (Troy) Dallas, Georgia; five grandchildren; a sister, Roseann Smith, Grain Valley, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Mass was held Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Missouri with graveside services at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
The family would like memorial contributions be made to the Crossroads Hospice or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
