Randy Nelson, 69, of Peculiar, Mo was born September 6, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas. He was the son of Allen and G. Earlene Nelson. He was raised in Winfield, Ks, graduating from Winfield High School . He departed this life Saturday, January 4, 2014, at his home peacefully.
On October 2, 1965, he was united in marriage to Linda G. Black at the Christian Church in Benton, Kansas. Randy and Linda lived on their farm in Atanta, Kansas for 33 years. He was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church . They retired to Peculiar, Mo in 2009.
Randy’s life-long trait and passion was farming, in addition to this, he worked as a sheet metal airplane mechanic for twenty-six years at Boeing Aircraft Manufacturing in Wichita, Kansas. If you asked Randy, above all, his ‘GREATEST JOY ON EARTH’ and legacy, was being a Father and Pa-Pa .
After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his family, playing pool, going bowling, and being with and attending his grandchildren’s numerous activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janice Sue Wells.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda and two daughters Ranae Lyn (and Greg) McPhail of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Crystal ( and Joel) Bergmann of Spring Hill, Kansas. In addition “PA-PA” will be deeply missed by his seven grandchildren: Dylan, Trevor and Shea McPhail of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Cole, Garrett, Emilee, and Hailey Bergmann of Spring Hill, Kansas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Cremation.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 10, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Grandchildren's Education Fund.
