Raymond Riffle Sr.

August 12, 1933 — January 30, 2008

Raymond Wayne Riffle Sr. of Latour, Missouri was born August 12, 1933 near Latour the son of Fred Thomas and Glada Elizabeth (Plank) Riffle. He departed this life Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 8 days.
Raymond was a farmer and stockman. Earlier, he was employed as a meat cutter until his early retirement in 1988 after 33 years. He was a 1951 graduate of Latour High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in a gunnery battery in Illinois and in a special unit that provided military honor guards. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was proud to serve in the military and performed his duty with honor. He enjoyed the outdoors and was thankful for his brothers and sisters and families. Raymond returned to the family farm near Latour in 1988.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Bob Riffle.
He is survived by two sons, Raymond W. Riffle Jr. and wife, Linda, Bull Head City, Arizona, Thomas E. Riffle and wife, Ann, Joliet, Illinois; a daughter, Paulette McNaughton, Bull Head City, Arizona; nine grandchildren, Rondi, Raechel, Rebecca, Casey, Kelly, Kristy, April and Colleen; and his first great-grandchild is due in July of 2008. He is also survived by four brothers, John Riffle and wife, Barbara, Cameron, Missouri, Jim Riffle and wife, Shirley, Latour, Missouri, Richard Riffle and wife, Carolynn, Garden City, Missouri, Donald Riffle and wife, Gail, Harrisonville, Missouri; two sisters, Barbara Davis and husband, Bill, Independence, Missouri, Beverly Andes and husband, Berle, Garden City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends. Let us celebrate his life and know he is now in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Memorial services were held Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
