Richard Gregg

Ira Richard Gregg of Creighton, Missouri was born April 22, 1932 on the family farm near Creighton the son of Edgar Martin and Mary Ellen (Crotchett) Gregg. He departed this life on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at his home near Creighton surrounded by his family at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 23 days.
On May 19, 1961, Richard was united in marriage to Mary Glenn Farr on the family farm near Creighton.
Richard was a farmer until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Creighton. He was an Air Force veteran serving in Germany as a Cryptographic Operator a decoder and communications. Richard was a lifelong area resident. He attended Creighton schools and was a talented basketball player. He loved to watch basketball and enjoyed watching his daughter and grandsons play.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a son, Martin Lee Gregg; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald Gene and Peggy Gregg.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Glenn Gregg of the home; a son, Rick Gregg and wife, Jodie, Fairplay, Missouri.; a daughter, Linda Merrifield and husband, Ronnie, Creighton, Missouri ; 6 grandsons, Levi, Issac, Chance, Robbie, Noah and Steven; a granddaughter, Addie; a great-granddaughter, Karsyn; many nieces and nephews, friends, family and adopted kids who called him grandpa. He will be sadly missed.
A Celebration Of Life Services were held Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Cremation.
Family suggest memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Creighton, Missouri.
