Richard Eddie Moores

Eddie Moores, age 83, of Pleasant Hill, MO, passed away October 6, 2023. Eddie was born February 1, 1940, to Rosalie Pearl McGraw in Knob Noster, MO. The family moved to Kansas City shortly thereafter where Eddie attended St. Aloysius grade school and later De La Salle High School. 

Eddie was lovingly raised by his mother and grandparents James and Donna Blum. He spent summers with his cousins in the country where he fell in love with the outdoors and hunting. Eddie was a lifelong mechanic. One of his first jobs was at his uncle Bill’s service station at 4^th & State where he learned about life and fixing cars from his biggest role model.  Eddie and uncle Bill went on to open their own auto parts store. Eddie worked several years as a mechanic at Art Bunker Volkswagen, eventually spending his remaining career working for O’Reilly Auto Parts.

As a young man, Eddie worked as bellhop at the Muehlebach Hotel. There is where he met the love of his life, Judy Smith, and they married in June 1959. Eddie and Judy lived in Kansas City but longed to escape to the country and in 1974 they moved to the home where they would spend the rest of their lives. Eddie loved to hunt, and he spent at least a week every year in Colorado hunting, vacationing, eventually building his dream cabin there. 

Eddie was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Judy.  He is survived by his son David (Rene); daughter Mindy; grandchildren: Rachel, Rebecca, Jonathan, Austin, Lauren, and Hannah, several great grandchildren, and many friends.

Funeral Service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2023 at Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Marshall, Missouri.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held at the home of Eddie and Judy Moores on Saturday, October 21, 2023, beginning at Noon.
