Robert Lee Jones, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born June 3, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Lee L. and Lillian F. (Stalcup) Jones. He departed this life Wednesday, March 22, 2006, Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville, at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 19 days.
On September 27, 1953, Robert was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Halcomb in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Robert attended the University of Arizona, Arkansas University and graduated from Colorado University in 1953. He was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. Robert entered the United States Air Force in the fall of 1953 as a student officer. He flew single engine jets and served as a Flight Instructor until his tour of duty ended in 1956. Robert returned to Boulder, Colorado where he ran a Fixed Base Operation, ""Lazy 8 Aviation Inc."" until he went to work for United Airlines in 1965 until his retirement in 1994. Robert returned to his native Missouri in 1982 to run the family businesses after his mothers death in 1980. The businesses included the Lee Theatre, Cass County Drive-In and Jones Ranch.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley H. Jones of the home; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 24, 2006 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
