Mrs. Ruby Zella Botkin of Centerville, Missouri was born November 25, 1919 in Chaonia, Missouri the daughter of Asa and Pearl (Whitt) Garrison. She departed this life on Saturday, November 25, 2011 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville surrounded by love and family at the age of 92 years.
Ruby was united in marriage to Carter S. Botkin Sr. on November 7, 1937.
Ruby was employed as the city clerk for the City of Centerville, Missouri until her retirement. Earlier she was employed as a secretary for the Selective Service Board until it was disbanded and for the Centerville Elementary School. Ruby attended Salem High School, Salem, Missouri and received her last 2 credits from the Centerville High School while her children were in school. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Centerville for over 48 years. Ruby enjoyed her family, reading the daily newspaper to keep up with current events and crocheting. Ruby had lived in Centerville before moving to Harrisonville in 2001.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carter. 4 brothers, Lynas, David, Cecil and Ben; a sister, Stella Carrell; a step-granddaughter, Patty Quintana. Ruby is survived by a son, Carter S. Botkin, Jr. and wife, Dorothy, Centerville, Missouri; a daughter, Dorritt Sutton and husband, Charles, Harrisonville, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Carter Botkin, Lisa Lowe (Wendell), Nathan Sutton (Shannon), Dr. Matthew Sutton (Jennifer); 2 step-grandsons, Tommy Jones, Daniel Jones (Jennifer), 9 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandsons, 4 step-great-great-step-granddaughters; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Centerville Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of McSpadden Funeral Home, 610 S. Main St., Ellington, Missouri 63638 (573)663-7111. Burial will be in the Centerville Missouri Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the church.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Centerville Cemetery Fondation.
