Mrs. Ruth Catherine Holden of Harrisonville, Missouri was born November 16, 1919 in Hallowell, Kansas the daughter of Charles Henley and Alta Ruth (Adkins) Alexander. She departed this life on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 7 days.
On June 12, 1937, Ruth was united in marriage to Archie Leroy Holden in Columbus, Kansas.
Ruth was employed as an accountant and bookkeeper for Seaboard Milling Corporation in Kansas City Missouri until her retirement in 1975. She was later employed as an accountant for Cottey College, Nevada, Missouri. Ruth attended Antioch Southern Baptist Church Harrisonville and was a member of the Eastern Star in Kansas City. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, dependable, had never spoken a bad word against anyone and never interfered in her families life decisions. Ruth had lived in Hallowell and McCune, Kansas, Kansas City and Milo, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville to be close to her family.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie in August of 1994; three brothers, Earl, Henley and Clarence; a sister, Stella Fullhart.
Ruth is survived by a son, Ronald L. Holden and wife, Wynola, Harrisonville, Missouri; a daughter, Beverly Coons and husband, Bud, Lake Havasu City, Arizona; five grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Antioch Southern Baptist Church, Harrisonville, Missouri with a graveside service at the McKee Cemetery near Hallowell, Kansas.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the McKee Cemetery Association.
