Shirley Ann Dobson of Raytown, MO, passed away on June 14, 2014. She was married for 52 years to Buddie Lee Dobson who preceded her in death on November 12, 2011. Mom to Tammy Dobson (Michelle), Kansas City, MO, and Kent Dobson (Julie), Raytown, MO; Granny to Brandon Dobson (Samantha), Raytown, MO, and Tori Quinones, Springfield, MO; Great-Granny to Bethany Dobson, Leo Ramos, Ezra Dobson and Audrey Dobson.
Shirley’s passion was caring for her family, having weekly family night and hosting large family reunions. For many years she enjoyed singing in the Westridge Christian Church choir, including various cantatas. Shirley was also a member of Voices of Joy and the Trio. For several years, she also led crafts for VBS. She was particularly fond of decorating each room of her home with a different theme for Christmas. In later years, Buddie and Shirley especially enjoyed attending weekly senior dances, which was fitting since they first met at a VFW dance.
Born February 28, 1939 in Bonner Springs, KS, raised primarily in the Cass County area, and graduating from Archie High School.
In addition to Buddie, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William Price and Lillie Simmons, her sisters, Jennie Dale and Marjorie Day, and her brothers, Roy Simmons, Norman Lee Simmons, and William Price Simmons, Jr.
Besides her immediate family, Shirley is survived by sisters, Bonnie Simmons, Lee’s Summit, MO; Phyllis Alexander, Archie, MO; Arthur Simmons, Marshall, MI and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
There will be a graveside service for family and friends at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO, at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
Immediately following the service, the family invites you to join them for a meal at Eagle Creek Church-Harrisonville, which is located in the Mill Walk Mall at intersection of 71 and 291 Highways.
