Shirley Lavone Burchett of LaTour, MO was born April 19, 1971 in Gainesville, FL, the daughter of Ralph E. and Jana G. Cotton. She departed this life on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, MO at the age of 40.
On September 29, 1990 Shirley was united in marriage to Jay Leo McAlister, in Kansas City, MO. Shirley gave birth to her first daughter Jessica Gail on March 22, 1991, she gave birth to her second daughter Samantha Colleen on March 16, 1993 and she gave birth to her 3rd daughter Kandice Le-Ann on August 2, 1999.
On June 11, 2003 she was united in marriage to Douglas Wayne Burchett in Arkansas City, KS.
Shirley had a passion for special needs home health care and transportation which she held as a career for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, scrapbooking, making cards and crocheting. Shirley was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Garden City at a young age. Shirley was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband Jay Leo McAlister, Maternal Grandfather Daniel Mullins, and Paternal Grandparents John & Lucille Cotton.
Shirley is survived by her husband Douglas Wayne Burchett of the home, 3 sons, Todd Hand of Oklahoma City, OK, Ashien Burchett of Stillwater, OK, Jesse Burchett of Bethany, OK, 5 daughters, Heather Jackson and husband Paul of San Antonio, TX, Jessica Snow and husband Dustin of Arkansas City, KS, Samantha Burchett of Garden City, MO, Sally Burchett of Durango, CO and Kandice Burchett of LaTour, MO, Parents Ralph & Jana Cotton, LaTour, MO, Sister Jamie & David Larcom, Garden City, Brother Eddy & Michele Cotton, Phoenix, AZ and Maternal Grandparents Andy & Joyce Moffet, Intercession City, FL.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life service was held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Heart of Life First Baptist Church, Garden City, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Shirley Burchett Memorial Fund.
