Steven Donald Foster of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born to James Donald and Dorothy (Gilkeson) Foster on April 21, 1951, a much-wanted child. His father was employed by the Phillips 66 Oil Co., and the family lived in various towns and cities in Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. After graduation from Ft. Scott, Kansas, Senior High School, Steven attended Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. He then served in the United States Army from 1973-77, primarily as a translator-interpreter in Korea. Later, he was employed for a number of years by the Internal Revenue Service, in Kansas City, Missouri, until he resigned to care for his mother, at home, in her final years. Steven was a quiet man, but his intelligence and his wry sense of humor enlivened conversations (and disagreements over politics and sports) with friends and relatives. He particularly enjoyed watching and critiquing football and baseball games (both college and pro) with other informed fans, and he would have loved seeing the Chiefs win another Super Bowl. Steven died at his home, officially on October 11, 2024, at the age of 73; he is survived by numerous cousins, from both sides of his family, who will remember him fondly.
