Mrs. Velma Bernice Buntin of Creighton, Missouri was born September 1, 1926 in Nashville, Missouri the daughter of Theo Shirden and Dorothy Lavern (Beacher) Morain. She departed this life Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 21 days.
On July 3, 1974, Velma was united in marriage to Keith Carylse Buntin at Peculiar, Missouri. Velma was employed as a special precision assembly worker for Bendix, Kansas City, Missouri until her retirement in August of 1988. She was a member of Machinist Union Local #78, Kansas City, Missouri. Velma enjoyed horses, the outdoors, making jewelry and crafts. She had lived in Liberty, Missouri before moving to Creighton in 1974.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Butner and Ester Ann Morain; three half-brothers, Billie, Gerry and Glaze Morain; three half-sisters, Shirley Hay, Sharon Collins and Roma Morain.
She is survived by her husband, Keith C. Buntin of the home; one daughter, Donna Jo Mays and husband Gregory, Creighton, Missouri; three step-sons, Glen Buntin and wife Diane, Independence, Missouri, Ronald Buntin, Garden City, Missouri, Paul Buntin and wife Dee, Sugar Creek, Missouri; one granddaughter, Wendi Michelle Mikulla; one brother, LeRoy Morain, Independence, Missouri; one half-brother, Mervyn Morain, Odessa, Missouri; one sister, JoElla Wilcox, Harlingen, Texas; three half-sisters, Glenda Fullhart and Rose Marie Johnson, Kansas City, Missouri and Barbara Saltkill, Belton, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 27, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Clinton Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund.
