Mrs. Vida Anita Veach of Freeman, Missouri was born in Log-Bretto, Medio, Yugoslavia now Slovenia, the daughter of Giovanni and Francesca (Sedej) Cernuta. She departed this life on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Meadowview of Harrisonville Health and Rehab at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 22 days.
In July of 1947, Vida was united in marriage to Benjamin William Veach in Trieste, Italy.
Vida was a homemaker. Earlier she had been a translator for National Bella Hess in North Kansas City, Missouri. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Veach on March 25, 2009; a grandson, Adam Veach on May 14, 2011 and a sister, Vera Swango on January 23, 2011.
Vida is survived by a son, Eddie Veach and wife Sandy, Freeman, Missouri; two daughters, Loretta Winfrey and husband Wayne, Wamego, Kansas, Christy Baumhoff and husband Jason, Urich, Missouri; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, John Cernuta, Port Orange, Florida; other relatives and many friends.
A Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville with burial in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice.
