Wayne Shannon Lehr of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born January 11, 1926, in Eldon, Missouri, the son of Edward Theophilus and Lytle Alice (Shannon) Lehr. He departed this life Friday, March 30, 2007, at Jefferson Health Care, Lee's Summit, Missouri, at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 19 days.
On November 3, 1951, Wayne was united in marriage to Vina Ruth Ramey in El Dorado Springs, Missouri.
Wayne was a 45-year member of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 27, Kansas City, Missouri, and was employed by Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Lenexa, Kansas, until his retirement in 1985. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Wayne was a member of the United Methodist Church, VFW Post #4409, a charter member of the Cass County Elks Club #2791, all of Harrisonville, Missouri, Grandview Masonic Lodge, Grandview, Missouri, the Moose Lodge, Colestrip, Montana, and Garden City Chapter 340, Order of Eastern Star. Wayne lived in Kansas City before moving to Eight Mile Place, Daugherty, Missouri, in 1959. He enjoyed his family, cooking, gardening and working on his farm.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Marra and Evelyn Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Lehr, of the home; four sons, David J. Lehr and wife Joanne, Wichita, Kansas, Phillip R. Lehr and wife Debra, Roger W. Lehr and wife Cheryl, all of Harrisonville, Missouri, Jeffrey A. Lehr, Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Sharon K. McGee and husband MSG James, Harrisonville, Missouri; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a half-brother, A.E. Thompson Jr. and wife Joyce, Grandview, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Grace Hospice.
