Wesley Glen Matteson

Wesley Glen Matteson, 65, of East Lynne, Missouri, passed away at his home on March 18, 2025. He was born on April 18, 1959, in Fulton, Missouri, to Faye and Wesley Matteson.

Wesley dedicated 44 years of his life to the Kansas City Southern Railroad, where he made lifelong friendships and took pride in his work. On July 10, 1993, he married Lola, combining two families and creating a legacy of love. Together, they raised five children: Sharon Jackson, Tammy (Dan) Cushard, James Matteson, Katherine (Adam) Patrick, and Wesley Matteson.

He was a beloved brother to Tony Matteson, Ronnie Matteson, Ted Christian, and Charlie Christian, and to his sisters Teresa McKinnon, Rita Perry, Lora McCubbin, and Liz Fisher. Wesley was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought joy to his heart.

Wesley had many passions that reflected his vibrant spirit. He loved riding his Harley, hunting, and cheering for his favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed cooking, especially for his family when it involved crawfish, and frying alligator for Super Bowls. In his later years, Wesley found joy in crocheting, creating blankets, hats, and coozies for family and friends. You could usually find him at home with his word searches or having a beer at Fuglys.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents Marjorie Faye (Art) Christian and Wesley (Shirley) Matteson, his son James Matteson, and his brothers Ted Christian and Charlie Christian. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A celebration of Wesley’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Dickey Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
