William Everett “Bill” Chiles of Garden City, MO was born on October 25, 1942 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Evelyn (Long) Chiles and Loren Chiles. He departed life Thursday, December 26 at KU Medical Center at the age of 71.
On September 27, 1964, Bill was united in marriage to Sarah Monrean from Pennsylvania. Bill went to school at Piper, MO and high school in Clinton, MO. Bill joined the army after school and served time in Germany. Upon return from the army, Bill started working at Ford Motor Co. Later, Bill had a yearning for trucking, and purchased one of his five semi- trucks he owned over his 30 years of over the road driving. He was proud of his all of his farm equipment and 18 wheelers.
Bill loved his land and watching and taking care of his cattle. Many happy years were spent boating at the lake with his friends and family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sarah Chiles and two daughters and son-in-laws, Cindy and Dan Matson, and Kelly and Guy Wheeler. He also has four grandchildren Will and Zach Matson, and Reagan and Reid Wheeler. Bill is also survived by his sister Martha Knight and brother Jim Chiles as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Bill spent his younger years spending summers with his grandparents Stella and William Chiles in Garden City. He also had a love for fast cars, especially his ’57 Chevys. After retiring, Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his Saturday get togethers with his friends.
Bill was very loved by his family and friends and will be missed every day. God received another angel.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service was held Monday, December 30, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggests contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church memorial fund, Garden City, Missouri.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
