William ""Bill"" Richard Houdek, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born February 3, 1935 in Robinson, Illinois, the son of Paul King and Berniece (Campbell) Houdek. He departed this life Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in Harrisonville at the age of 72 years and 4 days.
On September 1, 1957, Bill was united in marriage to Sandra Jean Lames in Dysart, Iowa.
Bill was employed as a casualty manager for AIG Insurance, St. Louis, Missouri until his retirement in 1998. He was a graduate of Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bill enjoyed wood carving, listening to classical music, collecting antiques, researching genealogy and studying science. He had lived in Arnold, Missouri, Kansas City, Atlanta, Georgia, Los Angeles, California and St. Louis before moving to Harrisonville in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra J. Houdek of the home; a son, Paul K. Houdek and wife Brenda, Harrisonville, Missouri; a daughter, Barb Bellew and husband, Mike, Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Mary, Matt, Rachel, David, Andrew and Elizabeth; a brother, Bruce Houdek, Kansas City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service was held Sunday, February 11, 2007 at the Harrisonville Community Center. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
