Winford Wayne Leslie of Gunn City, Missouri was born January 10, 1929 near Gunn City the son of Ralph Edgar and Agnes Frances (Gilleland) Leslie. He departed this life Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at his home near Gunn City at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 1 day.
On September 3, 1950, Winford was united in marriage to Virginia Ruth Snow at the Gunn City Christian Church.
Winford was employed as a machinist for Bendix in Kansas City, Missouri from December 1956 until his retirement in April of 1991. He earlier was employed for the MKT Railroad from 1947 to 1956. Winford was a faithful member, deacon and treasurer of the Gunn City Christian Church; an Army veteran of the Korean War; a 45 year member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Union, Kansas City and served as President of the Gunn City Cemetery Association. He enjoyed the outdoors, turkey hunting, taking care of his cattle, farming, listening to country music, piddling and was a faithful watcher of Gunsmoke. He was a lifelong area resident.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia on January 5, 2007; two sisters, Lula Carnes and Wanda J. Sehorn.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sherri Sherman, Blue Springs, Missouri, Julie Davison and husband, Ronald, Gunn City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Stephanie Sherman, Mitchell and Sarah Davison; three brothers, Robert O. Leslie and wife, Arlene, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Gary D. Leslie and wife, Carol, Kingsville, Missouri, Eddie Leslie, Gila Bend, Arizona; a sister, Mary A. Hocker and husband, Walter, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were helded Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Gunn City Cemetery near Gunn City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Gunn City Cemetery Association.
